On
this project which was completed back in 2001,
our Certified Applicator started with a 50+ year
old slab in a building that had been constructed
as a veterinary clinic, and was now being converted
to a wine store. The General Contractor had to
perform saw cuts and do pour backs for plumbing
and electrical; the floor was stripped of old VAT;
and the final project was to be a combination of
RetroPlated concrete with acid stained graphics.
With RetroPlate, NO TOPICAL
SEALERS ARE REQUIRED OVER ACID STAIN. You
will note from the photographs, that “ghosting” of
the previous tile pattern will be present, even
after the diamond
grinding. Following the initial grinding, the acid
stain pattern was laid out with a specialty tape,
thus eliminating the need to provide decorative
saw cuts, along with eliminating the need for joint
fillers. Bottom Line: The customer received a beautiful,
polished concrete floor with great appearance and
minimal maintenance requirements!
